This pedestrian passage designed together with the concept of the Ściana Wschodnia (Eastern Wall) by the architects Zbigniew Karpiński and Jan Klewin used to be a popular walking site for Warsaw dwellers and tourists. Its state deteriorated over time and required an immediate and thorough revitalisation. Based upon an architectural competition organised by Warsaw Department of SARP (Association of Polish Architects) with the participation of the Warsaw authorities, DTC Real Estate undertook a re-design and refurbishment of that area. The winner of that architectural competition was "maas" architectural studio together with "Bulanda i Mucha Architects".
The renovation, fully financed by DTC Real Estate, was completed in December 2006
The eastern facades of Wars&Sawa and Junior facing the Pasaż Wiecha passage were renovated and modernised simultaneously. The Pasaż Wiecha is enhanced by creating contrasted vertical elements along the WARS & SAWA and JUNIOR properties, made out sequentially extended shop windows, colored glazing and lettering after the Properties' names.
This is to create a climate proper for a large city centre, open and friendly to any passer-by.
At present Pasaż Wiecha is becoming a showcase for the Warsaw downtown, and further activities of DTC Real Estate as its proper manager will allow it to become a permanent hotspot for the cultural and social initiatives.
Cultural activities were initiated at the opening of the Pasaż Wiecha with an exhibition entitled "Eastern Wall - leisurely pacing along the Pasaż Wiecha" presenting changes that happened in that part of the city during almost an entire century. The exhibition was presented in the glass cases placed along the whole lenght of the promenade.
